Venice, specifically
Three Venices: the island, the golf communities, and the new towns east of the interstate.
On Venice Island and in South Venice the houses are older and many cages are white aluminum from the 1980s and 90s. The frame is usually fine. What has failed is the screen — chalky, brittle, torn at the spline — and a full rescreen brings the enclosure back without touching the structure. The before-and-after below is one of those.
In the golf communities — Venice Golf & Country Club, the Venetian Golf & River Club — most calls are for a few panels or a door. The association usually wants the mesh and the frame color to match the rest of the street, so we match them.
East of I-75, in Sarasota National, IslandWalk and Grand Palm, the homes are newer. Owners call us to put part of the lanai under an insulated roof, to switch the water side to no-see-um screen, or for the first repairs the cage has ever needed.
What we do in Venice
Four kinds of job, most common first
Repair before rescreen, rescreen before replacement. Also: cage painting.
Panel repair
Roof and side panels in Phifer 18/14 fiberglass with new spline, rusted fasteners replaced, doors adjusted or replaced.
Full rescreen
For the older cage with a sound frame and tired mesh. Phifer 18/14, Phifer 20/20 no-see-um, or an upgrade to polyester screen.
Insulated roof & lanai
Shade and rain cover over part of the cage, or a screened lanai or front porch. Engineered and permitted.
New pool cage
Only when the frame itself is done: corrosion through the anchors or a frame that has moved. Sarasota County permit and inspection.

How much does rescreening cost in Venice?
It depends on the size and height of the enclosure, the mesh you choose and the condition of the spline grooves. We measure on site and the written quote is itemized.
On the older Venice homes it is almost always a fraction of a new cage, because the frame stays.
My cage is from the eighties. Does it need replacing?
Usually not. A well-built cage from that era often has sound aluminum — what has failed is the mesh and sometimes the finish. We check the frame and the anchors first and tell you which it is.
Should I use no-see-um screen in Venice?
If you are near the water or a preserve and midges get through at dusk, yes. Phifer 20/20 is a tighter weave than standard 18/14.
The trade is slightly less airflow. Many owners use it on the side facing the water and standard mesh on the rest.
Do you match the HOA color and mesh?
Yes. In the golf and deed-restricted communities we match the frame color and the mesh already on the street, and we can send the itemized estimate to the association if it needs to approve the work.
Do I need a permit to rescreen in Venice?
No. Replacing screen on a sound enclosure is not permitted work. A new cage, an insulated roof or a change to the frame needs a permit, which we pull under CRC1334065.
What warranty do you give?
Our work carries a 1-year labor warranty. The Phifer mesh we install also has the manufacturer's own warranty.
